Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance the addition of a Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several fundamental ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of these items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
This will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.
When a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes available is contingent on the type of item it is. For instance, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes to choose from, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade step will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower success rate.
Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building against a known point, like a benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength and damage as well as other characteristics. This can be done through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in very rare instances.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. item upgrading included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also includes number sets that give the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling can give players a faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in various ways. They could be of various sizes, have no elements, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways, including size and shape.
There are a range of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific functions that are beneficial for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to par with the different tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. For example, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. This will also boost the defense of armor with an updated appearance.
